| The final few weeks of school are always difficult to keep children engaged in learning. My first and second grade art students enjoyed another great science game which they created themselves! First, they drew and colored an animal in it's natural habitat and glued it onto a colorful piece of construction paper. Next, they came up with clues to help (or not help) someone guess what their animal was and also whether it was a reptile, mammal, fish, bird insect, amphibian, mollusk, etc. For example: "I have scales, a long sticky tongue, can change colors to match my mood or environment, I am a reptile. What am I?" (a chameleon) Finally, the last week of school students were able to pair off to play this fun guessing game. It was a real treat to watch the children eagerly quiz one another as they played the game. I hope you will take time to play this game with your children at home. Just start by making at least 5 to 10 game cards. Nice job first and second graders! |
